Broken Mirror

Pool. Ruimte voor architectuur en stedebouw. Amsterdam.

August / October 2007

Total dimensions: 615 x 235 cm

This installation is based on an already existing video animation, Broken Mirror. Stills of it were drawn directly on the inner side of the etalage glass (backwards, so that it could be seen correctly from the street). The result resembles a large comic strip. This work was a temporary intervention in the public space. Spectators had to move their bodies (walk a few meters, bend down, look up) in order to insert the temporary dimension in the narrative, which was missed in the transference from moving picture to still pictures. The transparency of the material -just lines of ink on glass- was very suitable for the theme of the story that Broken Mirror develops.
