Corrillos (first session)

Corrillos is an initiative of Marjolijn Dijkman and David Maroto, supported by TENT. It is a series of presentations by and for Rotterdam-based artists, designers, architects, curators and theoreticians. The Corrillos meetings started in September 2008, and take place more or less monthly.

The first Corrillos session took place on 16th September 2008. Hosted by David Maroto and Marjolijn Dijkman. Guests: Artist Lara Almarcegui and architect Jan Jongert (2012 Architecten). Cook artist: Taji offered one of his sushi installations as dinner.

On Lara Almarcegui’s own words: “I want to question urban planning through the study of places which escape a fixed definition of architecture: empty lots, waste lands, demolition sites; places which due the forgetfulness or lack of interest escape a defined design and are open to all kind of possibilities.

2012 Architects was founded in 1997 and has three partners: Cesare Peeren, Jeroen Bergsma and Jan Jongert. All are deeply committed to recycling or “reuse” as an integral strategy. Their activities are not just limited to architecture but also extend into other field of design and art.

Corrillos are by invitation only: a limited number of interested guests are invited per meeting.
