Corrillos is an initiative of Marjolijn Dijkman and David Maroto, supported by TENT. It is a series of presentations by and for Rotterdam-based artists, designers, architects, curators and theoreticians. The Corrillos meetings started in September 2008, and take place more or less monthly.
The fourth Corrillos took place on 17th February 2009 and was hosted by artist Katarina Zdjelar. Guests: Anke Bangma (curator/theoretician) and Özlem Altin (visual artist).
Anke Bangma: “My current research evolves around the reality effects of visual documents. Connecting contemporary discussions with the use of the camera in the emerging science of psychology, brought me to think of documentary practices not in terms of their truth claims, but in terms of how they make us feel and act.”
Özlem Altin: “‘Emptiness enveloped in endless silence.’ My artistic research deals with the experiences of marginal subjectivity, which haunt archival images and texts. Through print media, performance and video, I explore the personal and cultural representations and resonance of states of exhaustion, passivity and invisibility. My current work is concentrated primarily on book projects.”
Corrillos are by invitation only: a limited number of interested guests are invited per meeting.
